China-US Trade Negotiations! Trump: Willing To Work Together With China!
Jun 16, 2025
According to Xinhua News Agency, at around 1:00 PM local time on June 9, 2025, China and the United States held their first meeting under the newly established economic and trade consultation mechanism in London, United Kingdom.
Less than a month ago, on May 10-11, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, China and the US conducted high-level trade talks and issued a joint statement, agreeing to establish the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, marking a significant step toward resolving trade issues through dialogue. From Geneva to London, the two sides have once again met face-to-face, raising global expectations for progress in addressing differences, deepening mutual trust, and achieving win-win cooperation.
During a phone call on the evening of June 5, 2025 (Beijing time), the leaders of both nations emphasized the importance of utilizing the established trade consultation mechanism, adhering to an attitude of equality, respecting each other's concerns, and striving for mutually beneficial outcomes. President Trump noted that US-China relations are of great importance and expressed the US's willingness to work with China to implement the agreement.
On the eve of the London meeting, a UK government spokesperson stated: "The United Kingdom is a champion of free trade, and we have consistently made clear that trade wars serve no one's interests. We therefore welcome these negotiations. In recent times, the US's excessive imposition of tariffs has severely disrupted the global trade order. How to resolve the current challenges and promote sustainable global economic development has become a pressing issue for the international community."
The Geneva trade talks undoubtedly set a positive tone, proving that dialogue and cooperation remain the only correct path for China and the US, with far greater potential for mutual benefit than for conflict. Over the past month, orders from US buyers have surged, and the China-US shipping market has faced a "shortage of available ships," reflecting the immense two-way demand between the two nations.
Michael Hart, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, remarked that the tariff war has served as a "real-world experiment," demonstrating that China is both a vital market for US goods and a key source of supply. The new round of China-US trade consultations, aimed at "achieving win-win results," carries the heightened expectations of the global business community.
