How To Choose MDF
Jun 23, 2022
MDF is a small-diameter log, harvesting, processing residues and non-wood plant fiber raw materials, which are sliced, cooked, fiber separated, dried, and then applied with urea-formaldehyde resin or other suitable adhesives, and then hot-pressed. artificial board. Its density is generally in the range of 500-880 kg/m3, and its thickness is generally 2-30 mm.
Basic Features
1. The internal structure is uniform, the density is moderate, the dimensional stability is good, the deformation amount is small, and the physical and mechanical properties are moderate.
2. The surface is smooth and smooth, and the machining performance is good. It can be pasted with sliced veneer or the pattern is novel and beautiful, so it is very popular in home decoration, and is often used to make furniture, partitions, etc.
Uses: middle and high-end furniture manufacturing, interior decoration, audio shell, musical instruments, vehicle and ship interior decoration, construction and other industries.
When choosing MDF, pay attention to these three points:
1. From the outside, check whether the thickness and density are uniform, whether the edges and corners are damaged, whether there are layers, bulging, carbonization, etc., and whether there are loose parts.
2. When conditions permit, a small piece of MDF can be sawn and soaked in water with a water temperature of 20°C for 24 hours to observe the change in thickness, and at the same time observe whether there are small bulges on the surface of the board. The thickness varies greatly, and there are small bulges on the board surface, indicating that the board surface has poor waterproofness.
3. Choose medium density fiberboard with low release, smell it by smell, and choose medium density fiberboard with less irritating smell, because the bigger the smell, the higher the formaldehyde release and the greater the pollution.
