Environmental Grades Of MDF
Jun 23, 2022
The national standard GB18580-2001 "Limits of formaldehyde emission in wood-based panels and their products for interior decoration and decoration materials" stipulates that MDF is divided into two grades: E1 and E2, and the formaldehyde emission limit of E1 products is ≤9mg/100g (which can be directly For indoor use), the E2 grade product is ≤30mg/100g (it must be used indoors after finishing treatment). The inspection method adopts the perforation extraction method. Or E1 grade is ≤1.5mg/L, E2 grade is ≤5.0mg/L. The detection method is the 40L dryer method.

In addition, in addition to the national standard, the EU also has its own E1 and E2 standards, which are different from the national standard. European standard BS EN 13986:2004 "Performance, conformity assessment and marking of wood-based panels for construction" only has specific indicators and methods for the detection of formaldehyde emission in E1 and E2 wood-based panel products. The standard of grade E1 is ≤8mg/100g; the standard of grade E2 is ≤30mg/100g. (perforated extraction method)

Another method is the gas analysis method: E1 level release ≤3.5mg/m2h, or ≤5mg/m2h (within 3 days of production); E2 level is 3.5-8mg/m2h, or 5-12mg/m2h. (within 3 days of production)
