What is fiber board?

Fiberboard is a wood-based board made of lignocellulosic fibers interwoven into shape and utilizing its inherent adhesive properties. Adhesives and/or additives may be applied during the manufacturing process.
Fiberboard, also known as density board, is wood fiber or other vegetable fiber as raw materials, urea formaldehyde resin or other applicable adhesive made of wood-based board. Fibreboard has the advantages of uniform material, small strength difference and not easy to crack. Manufacturing 1 cubic metre fiberboard needs the lumber of 2.5 ~ 3 cubic metre about, can replace 3 cubic metre converted timber or 5 cubic metre log. Development of fiberboard production is an effective way of comprehensive utilization of wood resources.
The disadvantage of fibreboard is that the back side has reticulated, resulting in uneven surface area on both sides of the board, due to the difference of expansion force after moisture absorption and make the board warped deformation; Hard plate surface hard, hard nail, poor water resistance. Dry fiberboard avoids some disadvantages but costs more.
China's fiberboard production started in the 1970s, developed in the 1980s, and took off in the 1990s. Since the beginning of the 21st century, fiberboard production has increased substantially, exceeding 20 million m3 for the first time in 2005 to 49.54 million m3 in 2011. The output of fibreboard in henan province reached 6.98 million cubic meters in 2011, up 44.87 percent from 2010, accounting for 14.09 percent of the national total. It was followed by guangxi, jiangsu and shandong, accounting for 12.84 percent, 9.76 percent and 8.56 percent, respectively. From January to July, 2012, the production of fiberboard in China reached 29805100.39 square meters, an increase of 11.3% compared with the same period in 2011.
